We are back in Freo!

We are back in Freo! (Dec 09, 2015)

The last few days have been a whirlwind of paperwork, and reuniting our family and now more planning for the next year ahead.

The excitement of exploring new places, as we just did on our return journey from Cocos Keeling Islands via Ninety East Ridge and Naturaliste Plateau carrying The Explorers Museum Pennant 2, is intense and stimulating.  New questions arise, demanding new answers – some of which are not easily drawn.  The pleasure and relief of returning safe and sound after another 5300 nm romp across an open ocean basin, never wanes.  As does the great joy of seeing the beautiful waters of Rottnest Island on our way into the Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour.

A sail appearing over the horizon, as identified by Sam, as Thelma, his dad’s yacht, was a lovely welcome home as we passed Gage Roads, the ship anchorage close to the Port of Fremantle.  Entering the Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour, a hoot and holler from the rocks was the singular but not unnoticed EMWC (Embarrassing Mum Welcoming Committee) which sparked a round of answering yahoos!  Thanks Kate, that was another lovely welcome!

Tied to terra firma, (well the fixed jetty, anyway) sleeping the whole night is especially nice and I am relishing this treat!  We are slowly ramping up for a party celebrating Micah’s 21st Birthday and Bon Voyage for Tasmin whom will spend our summer in Italy.  And then of course, there is Christmas… we shall rise to this occasion!

Well done Master Curt, another awesome journey safe and sound!

It is wonderful having our girls and Skipper altogether again!  Looking forward to catching up with more friends soon too!
