Cetacean Season 2015

Another beautiful day unfolded in the tropics as Whale Song continued to cross the Gulf of Carpentaria, finally reaching the eastern side.  As we passed Possession Island on the western side of Cape York Peninsula, a white plaque marked the site where Captain Cook claimed eastern Australia for the British Empire on Aug 22, 1770.  The beautiful scenery rounding Cape York with many tropically-forested islands in our vista was a welcome change from the gulf and making some southing in our course towards selected mission sites was also an added bonus.

Puffy, tropical cumulus clouds dotted the sky above the increasingly gorgeous, green water while the DSTO team worked their magic preparing the vehicles for the next missions.

A stunning sunset was the perfect way for Curt and Mich to celebrate their 26th wedding anniversary! As well, Resty prepared celebratory Filipino noodles wishing for long life!
