Finding calm water from the prevailing south-easterly winds has become a priority. Behind Sunday Island in Margaret Bay bordered to the south by Cape Grenville, a sufficient lee granted successful missions for both the Remus 100 and 600 vehicles from sunrise until mid-afternoon.
Remus 600 being deployed into warm, tropical water to evaluate a range of variables under such conditions.
The main salon is the “nerve centre” on board Whale Song for the
DSTO team activities. In this area, currently resembling a computer lab, on the dinner table, minor and major running repairs to the vehicles are undertaken, as well on the boat-deck.
