Wow, we all love it when whales breach! When a humpback lifts their 40,000kg body out of the water, things get noisy and splashy and very exciting!

Here is a nice look at the chest of this humpback whale!
Breaching shows the underside of the belly, the ventral pleats (the multiple lines near the eye and pectoral fin) from the chin to the umbilical are easily viewed here!
Even calves get in on the act of breaching!
Adults usually do a better job at this breaching thing!
But this calf we named ‘Diatom’ did a pretty marvellous job, you would have to say! It levitated Antarctic-style!
