HMAS Kuttabul, Garden Island Visit, Sydney Harbour (Written on Feb 06, 2013)
Our small journey across Sydney Harbour this morning took us alongside for the day at HMAS Kuttabul on Garden Island for a meet and greet with Navy personnel. Nicely positioned on a wharf near Harry’s Cafe de Wheels we chose pies for lunch between visiting groups, especially enjoying the “Tiger” variety which includes the messy, but oh-so tasty mushy pies, mash and gravy atop the pie. Hmm, an intriguing sign on the jetty opposite outlining strict instructions, clearly was being ignored by people sharing sandwiches and silver gulls hanging out!
Shortly after 1600 we made our way from HMAS Kuttabul out of Sydney Harbour, bidding all the familiar places good-bye and heading for the open Pacific Ocean outside the Sydney Heads.
With land on our starboard side taking on the lovely hues of sunset, dinner on the high seas was served, namely chilli beef burritos with all the fixings (corn chips, salsa, grated cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and jalapenos). This is a good activity meal with plenty of tortillas and action involved while building your favourite burrito! Back at sea again we make our way south to HMAS Creswell for preparations for the next week with Defence.
