Bow Waves

In 1990, Curt and Mich began humpback whale research based on Enderby Island in the Dampier Archipelago, northwest Australia.

What was the northern destination for this population? How many whales travel this west coast?  How long do they stay on the breeding grounds?  A multitude of questions drove their research.

In Nickol Bay, on the eastern side of the Burrup Peninsula, this pair of humpback whales magically glided through glassy calm water.

Twenty-seven years of humpback whale research started here in beautifully remote waters near Dampier.  This area holds a special place in our hearts.
