On the Humpback Highway…

July 25, 2014

With a cold front approaching we are running from bad weather that will hit Perth on Saturday (July 26).  With wind on our nose, it is relatively heavy going.  Whale sighted along the way are also experiencing the same motion through the water.  Our stabilisers are very effective and I can see humpback whales using their pectoral fins in the same way.  Stopping to sort out some loose gear we momentarily turned and went back towards the south, this is an easier run!  But we want to go north and not south.  Well, when we are in calm weather, it will feel all the more better!

The Indian Ocean swirls and splashes!

A pod of dolphins, 15 pods, 23 individual humpback whales and circling yellow-nosed albatross are a good start to our journey.   Resty’s chicken teriyaki, steamed rice and curried vegetables were delicious and well devoured by the crew, as always.

Bouncy waves, from a front to the south, give us a lively sea and swell.
