The silt-laden water of the coastal Kimberley in northwest Australia is immediately recognisable by it’s gorgeous turquoise hues. The dark black bodies of the wintertime visiting humpback whales, appear almost dark brown against the green tones.

This calf has an identifying scar right beneath the dorsal fin on the right lateral body.
The beautiful relationship between a cow and a calf is evident here – this calf is lying right close to its mum.
This is one humpback whale of a pair of curious animals that spent several hours swimming around and around our vessel. Really love these encounters!
