Byron Writers Festival 2018

Books, books and more books…

Recently Micheline Jenner AM was able to attend the Byron Writers Festival held on Aug 3-5 at Elements of Byron in Byron Bay, northern NSW.

This was an unique opportunity to join three panels discussing Curt and Micheline’s whale research over the last 30 years, current issues facing the world’s whales and the challenges and positives of writing in science.

Just a few of the speakers!

With 140 participants and thousands of attendees during the three days, it was fascinating to hear and meet many of the festival creatives as well as the talented poets, interesting writers and amazing performers. What a great line-up!

Telling Stories for Science.

Discussing the challenges and rewards of publishing science are from left Ashley Hay (author of A Hundred Small Lessons and science essayist), Ella Finkel (Editor in Chief of Cosmos Magazine) and Micheline Jenner (whale researcher and author of The Secret Life of Whales).

Ella is happily announcing that Cosmos Magazine has received longterm funding and will remain a viable popular science publication, despite some recent concern. This is great news, Cosmos Magazine is a high quality Australian publication bringing and presenting fascinating science in a popular format.
