The myth about the quiet ocean, well replace it with it’s a noisy sea. Animals mark their territory and go about their daily lives in a well-orchestrated soundscape across the global shallow and deep seas. Shipping and man-oriented activities also fill the oceans with a myriad of sounds.
Listening to the ocean with a towed array 24/7 on a trip from Cocos Keeling Islands to Fremantle we heard many, many sperm whale calls. I love it when Whale Song comes alive with the sounds of the sea!
Filling the Screen. Sperm whale clicks fill the screen, 2345 per minute!

Whistles. Striped dolphin-style.
Click Trains. Sperm whale clicks dominate the soundscape they are hunting in the night.
Hunting Call. A mystery animal is hunting. We hope we will see at least one of these animals.
