This documentary “Birthplace of the Giants” filmed in the Kimberley, Western Australia in 2014 used a wide variety of camera technologies and techniques gaining new insights into the lives of humpback whales.
Watch out for it on Nat Geo Wild on Wed Oct 26, 2016 at 830pm AEST.
During the filming of Birthplace of the Giants we followed heat run pods, competitive male humpback whale groups, fiercely battling for the availability of a female.
We enjoyed the quiet of resting cow/calf pods…
And the interest of a cow/calf/escort pod…
We observed humpback whales for hours, it was just amazing! Here is Carrie in the bow basket keeping a handle on who’s who!
They also observed us! This was funny!
What are these funny whales doing? Are they checking our still propellors as we drifted in the calm conditions?
Curious humpback whales – just LOVE them!
We hope you do too!
